Can you believe it's already the end of November? I have no idea where the year went! One minute we were gearing up for the summer season and just like that, it's over.
We are so blessed to have had another great season - thanks to our amazing guests and local community. Looking back on what were able to accomplish with our small, but mighty team is beyond our wildest dreams.
A fun-filled 30th birthday weekend for 17 totally awesome people.
2 Spectacularly beautiful weddings for two of the most wonderful couples we've ever met.
Movie night on the lawn for our local friends.
3 Nights of Bates Motel Takeover.
A sold out summer season.
Pizza nights, boat tours, dinners at the Henley House and craft beer at Sober Island Brewing.
And there's more to come! We've still got our Christmas Lighting event, Christmas Themed Brewer's Dinner and maybe even one more special event planned all before the end of year!
And did we mention - we bought a cafe somewhere along the way? Yep! You can now visit the Marmalade Cafe & Coffee Bar in Sheet Harbour. We're planning some minor renovations in December, so we'll be closed for about a week. When we reopen we'll introduce some new and exiting 'stuff'. Stop by for a visit and say hi. We've had so much fun meeting new people and hearing stories about the community. It has given us a renewed energy and sense of purpose to connect with all the amazing people that live in our area.
As the end of the year draws closer, we've been reflecting on our success and challenges. And what is clear is that we would never have survived without three groups of people.
Group One.
The amazing staff at the motel and at the cafe: Kenzie, Tanya, Crissy, Marlene, Tammi, Paula and our beautiful daughter Zoey. These women worked tirelessly to make sure our guests have great experiences. They inspire us every day to be better people and to reach for the biggest dreams we can come up with. Without each of you, we would never have survived the ups and downs of the last year. Thank you to each of you for everything you give to your work, your community and to our team.
Group Two.
Back in October, we snuck away for a few days to Cape Breton. It only took us 2 years to get there, but we finally made it. While we were away, I was overcome with a sense of love and gratitude for the little community we now call home. The people here have welcomed and supported us from the minute our feet landed on the property. They've offered help, encouragement, advice and stories that have made us feel like we belong. Something, that in hindsight, we missed back "in our old life". So to everyone out there on the Eastern Shore who has been part of our journey - THANK YOU! We love you all.
Group Three.
Our amazing, loyal and forever loved motel guests. For those of you who returned for our second season and all the new guests who chose to visit. You are the ones who have fulfill our dreams of being moteliers. You are the ones who push us to do all the crazy things everyone else says doesn't belong in a roadside motel. You inspire us to strive for better and go beyond. Thank you to each and every one of you and your continued support of our little motel. We hope to see you next year.
We are so excited to see what season 3 has in store. Because quite frankly - we don't even know what's coming our way in 2023. We have some big ideas and we can't wait to share them with all of you! Stay tuned.
